Pumpkin Spice Smoothie: Bowl Edition!

So I usually don't pour my smoothies in a bowl. Back when I was looking at tips for weight loss, I found a tip that I kept stumbling across, which was to always try to make your food look like it's more than it should be like using small plates to psychologically trick your mind that you are actually eating more food. Then I took psychology in college and the tip came about again! Good riddicks, it is always on my mind now! Anyway, why am I talking about about bowls?! Oh yes, this pumpkin smoothie...



I would definitely wake up everyday excited to make this smoothie. What else can you ask for? It's perfect for fall, healthy, protein heavy for the vegans, and beautiful! I would like to note that you should put your pomegranate in the fridge for optimal taste bud fun. Seriously. Just do it. This combination isn't common, but I like how they tie together. 

Pumpkin Spice Smoothie with Pomegranate and Oreos
yields 1 smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup non dairy mik (I used soy milk)
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 tbsp agave nectar(or maple syrup or date syrup)
  • 1 scoop vegan protein powder (I used chocolate protein fudge, but vanilla is preferred)
  • 1 ripe banana
  • handful of ice
  • pomegranate seeds (do not omit)
  • almonds
  • oreos crumbles
  • flaxseed 

Directions

  1. Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Top with pomegranate, almonds, oreo crumbles, and flaxseed. Add or omit desired toppings. 
  2. Enjoy!
